Summer Holiday - Scenery

The set was based around a 3/4 size bus, a small car and 6 screens.  The bus was mounted on a large truck base and had about half of its left hand side cut away to reveal the interior. The car was a very simple construction on a truck base, roughly modelled on a Morris Minor. The screens each had a 6’x3’ truck base and a screen 6’x12’ on the front, made from cotton sheeting. The screens were moved around by a mixture of the cast and crew to form the backdrop for each scene. The screens were then lit to provide the required scenery.

Numbers of tables, chairs and doors were added to give detail to each scene.

A small bus was made (12” x 18” x 24”) for the picnic scene.

We were told after the production that we were the only production to date to have used the stage as a black box  by running blacks on up-n-downers along the SR & SL stage edges.

Period mics were dropped on a bar for the Studio scene.
